Bagles & Blue Grass Ride

Bagles & Blue Grass ride is held in Jackson Tennessee in October of each year. It is a wonderful challenging ride through Madison, Chester and Hardeman Counties. It goes through several communites and even goes through the hills of Chickasaw State Park in Chester County.

This was the first Metric ride for Robert Heathcock and Toby Parson  in 2011.  It was very challenging and reminded us of how important it was to train by riding alot of miles prior to attempting long rides in extreme heat.  We completed the 62 mile metric ride.

Robert Heathcock, Carlene Miller and Darren Webb completed the Bagles & Blue Grass Century Ride (100 miles) in 2012.

Tour De Reelfoot Ride

Our last group ride of 2012 was at Reelfoot State Park doing the Tour De Reelfoot Metric Century around the lake.  It was a very windy and cold ride  but the accommodations were wonderful.

Rodney, Kennith and Tammie completed their first Metric Century.

History

In the spring of 2011 several NoXcuse members from the Spin Class at NoXcuse Fitness Center decided to start riding bicycles together as a means to stay in shape and enjoy the outdoors during the spring and summer months. We wanted to get outside of the classroom and enjoy the outdoors.  We first started riding our bicycles on small routes around Henderson and Chester County but that soon turned into much larger routes that went into Madison, McNairy and Hardeman Counties. As time went by more and more Bike riders came and joined our weekly rides.  Since there was such an interest in riding with us, we decided to set up regular weekly rides. As a group we decided on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons to be the best days of the week for us  to ride.  After riding together for some time we decided on calling ourselves NoXcuse Cycling Team. We entered several local charity event rides during the first summer. We even ordered yellow riding Jerseys with our Team name "NoXcuse Cycling Team" to wear during these rides. During the winter of 2011-2012 we decided to Honor a local Police Officer that had been killed in the line of duty in Henderson by having a benefit ride in his honor. We called this ride "The Dennis Cagle Memorial Metric Bicycle Ride".  All proceeds from the event went into the Dennis Cagle Scholarship fund for scholarships in the amount of 1,500 dollars  to assist local high school students  graduating form High School that were  going to College. We held the event on the same weekend that  the City of Henderson has its  Harvest Festival that takes place in late October of each year. The first Event Ride in 2012 had 69 riders in it.  The second event ride in 2013 had 71 riders in it.  The Spring of 2012 brought on new challenges, and as a group we decided to sign up for a Metric Century ride  (62) and a Century ride (100) as our goal for the year. As a group we entered several local fund raising events. These were smaller rides to help us along with training for the bigger rides to come.  It wasn't long before our group decided to ride our first metric century and so we entered the Bagles and Blue Grass Metric Century. After completing that metric Century ride there was no stopping us.  We found the first Century ride we could find and entered it, it was located in Clarksville, Tn. After completing that ride as a group we were unstoppable. We entered rides all over West and Middle Tennessee.  We rode as a group in all these rides throughout the summer and the summer just  seemed to fly by because we were all having so much fun riding together.
